What Counseling With Me Is Like

I would describe my style as:

Conversational.

Collaborative.

Curious.

Straightforward.

Practical.

I’m going to listen.

But I’m also going to ask questions.

Sometimes a lot of questions.

Not because there’s one correct answer.

Good questions help us move underneath the first answer.

We might ask:

What’s really bothering you about this?

What are you afraid might happen?

What are you telling yourself this means?

How certain are you that that’s true?

What happens when you try to get rid of this feeling?

How much of your life is being organized around avoiding discomfort?

What matters enough to you that you’re willing to experience some discomfort for it?

Is the way you’re responding moving you toward the life you want—or away from it?

Those conversations help us connect thoughts, emotions, experiences, values, relationships, and behavior.
