You Don’t Need to Have Everything Figured Out Before You Contact Me

Starting counseling can feel strangely difficult.

You may have thought about it for weeks.

Months.

Maybe longer.

Then you reach the appointment form and suddenly wonder:

“What am I supposed to write?”

Keep it simple.

Tell me a little about what’s happening.

We’ll take it from there.

Step 1 — Reach Out

Request an appointment and provide some basic information about what brings you in.

Step 2 — We’ll Determine Whether We’re a Good Fit

We’ll consider what you’re hoping to work on, scheduling, insurance or payment considerations, and whether my experience matches what you’re looking for.

Step 3 — Start In Person

When practical and appropriate, we’ll begin counseling in my Rockford office and establish the working relationship face to face.

Step 4 — Use Flexibility When We Need It

If circumstances occasionally interfere with an office visit, telehealth may give us another option for maintaining continuity rather than automatically missing the session.

You don’t need to prepare a perfect explanation.

Show up.

We’ll start talking.
